Boarding & Daycare Terms and Conditions
Pawcious (“PS”)
By engaging Pawcious’ boarding and/or daycare services, the Owner agrees to the following terms and conditions:
1. Assessment & Cage-Free Environment
All first-time customers are required to undergo an assessment session in the form of daycare, which will be chargeable. Owners are strongly encouraged to bring their dogs for multiple daycare visits prior to any boarding stay to allow the dog to familiarise itself with the environment, staff, and other dogs.
The Owner acknowledges and understands that Pawcious operates a cage-free, free-roam environment. While every reasonable precaution is taken, such an environment carries inherent risks, including but not limited to:
- Stress or anxiety due to a new environment
- Minor injuries such as scratches from play
- Food-related incidents (e.g. stealing food from other dogs or bins)
- Dog-to-dog disagreements or altercations
Pawcious shall not be held responsible or liable for any stress, illness, injury, or behavioural changes arising from participation in daycare or boarding, including those resulting from environmental changes or separation anxiety.
2. Vaccinations & Health Requirements
The Owner warrants and represents that the pet:
- Has received all vaccinations required by law
- Is in good health and free from contagious illnesses at the time of check-in
All boarding and daycare dogs are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated with non-core vaccines, including but not limited to:
- Bordetella (Kennel Cough)
- Canine Influenza
- Leptospirosis
- Lyme Disease
As dogs are allowed to free-roam and participate in outdoor walks, Pawcious shall not be liable for any illness contracted despite reasonable precautions.
3. Flea & Tick Policy
All daycare and boarding dogs must be on active flea and tick prevention.
Pawcious does not accept dogs with fleas or ticks. Should fleas or ticks be discovered during a pet’s stay, Pawcious reserves the right, depending on severity, to take one or more of the following actions:
- Impose a fee starting from $50 and above for deticking and inconvenience fees
- Require immediate collection of the pet by the Owner
- Transport the pet to a nearby veterinary clinic for treatment (all veterinary and transport fees to be borne by the Owner)
Pawcious reserves the right to take all or any combination of the above actions as deemed necessary.
4. Honesty, Disclosure & Right of Refusal
The Owner is responsible for fully and accurately disclosing all known behavioural, medical, or health conditions prior to daycare or boarding, including but not limited to:
- Aggressive tendencies
- Anxiety-related behaviours
- Medical conditions
- Skin, ear, or infectious issues
- Parasites
Pawcious reserves the right to refuse or terminate services for any pet that poses a risk to staff or other animals, including but not limited to:
- Aggression
- Health or infectious concerns
- Parasites
Pawcious shall not be liable for incidents arising from undisclosed conditions. If a pet causes injury to staff or other pets, the Owner shall be fully responsible for all related medical and associated expenses.
In cases where service is refused or terminated for safety reasons, all deposits are non-refundable.
5. Illness, Injury & Veterinary Care
In the event that a pet becomes ill or injured while under Pawcious’ care, the Owner irrevocably authorises Pawcious to seek veterinary treatment from a veterinarian of Pawcious’ choice.
All veterinary fees, medical expenses, and transport costs shall be borne entirely by the Owner and paid promptly.
Pawcious shall not be liable for any illness, injury, or death of a pet while in its care, except in cases of wilful default. In such cases, any compensation shall be limited strictly to the value of the services rendered.
6. Hygiene, Showering & Grooming
It is the Owner’s responsibility to ensure that the pet is clean and free from matting at check-in. Pawcious shall not be responsible for skin issues arising from poor hygiene or matting present upon arrival.
If a pet is found to be excessively dirty, Pawcious reserves the right to:
- Provide a shower at the Owner’s expense, or
- Separate the pet from other dogs if necessary
Due to time constraints and existing grooming schedules, all grooming and showering services will be carried out on the day prior to check-out.
Owners are advised to wipe down their pets upon returning home as an added hygiene precaution. While Pawcious maintains strict cleaning and sanitisation protocols, we are unable to fully eliminate exposure to bacteria or viruses due to:
- The free-roaming nature of our environment
- High foot traffic of pets and clients within our premises
Pawcious shall not be held liable for any health issues arising from such exposure despite reasonable hygiene measures.
Unless otherwise specified, Pawcious will use its own grooming products and shall not be responsible for any allergic reactions or skin sensitivities arising from their use.
7. Sterilisation & Behaviour Management
For pets that are not sterilised, Pawcious shall not be liable for any unwanted pregnancy occurring during the stay.
In addition, Pawcious reserves the right to separate or manage the interaction of unsterilised male dogs that display excessive humping or sexually driven behaviour, in order to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of other pets. Such separation or management measures shall be implemented at Pawcious’ discretion and do not constitute a breach of service.
8. Additional Charges & Liability
a) Damage to Property
Owners are responsible for any damage caused by their dog to our property, equipment, furnishings, bedding, toys, fixtures, or any other items within our premises. In the event that a dog causes damage through chewing, scratching, digging, destruction of property, or any other destructive behaviour, we reserve the right to recover the full cost of repair or replacement from the owner. Supporting invoices or quotations may be provided upon request.
b) Excessive Soiling and Sanitation Fee
As part of our standard boarding service, all kennels are cleaned and sanitised thoroughly on a daily basis to maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for all guests.
However, if a dog causes excessive soiling that requires significantly more cleaning than normal (including, but not limited to, severe diarrhoea, repeated accidents, faeces smeared on kennel walls, doors, flooring, bedding, or other surfaces), an additional cleaning and sanitation fee may be imposed. Such fees will start from $20 per incident/day, depending on the severity of the mess and the additional labour, cleaning materials, and sanitation procedures required.
This fee is intended only for cases involving excessive cleaning requirements and does not apply to normal accidents or routine kennel cleaning.
c) Additional Care Services
Our standard boarding package includes:
- Feeding up to twice daily (according to the owner’s instructions);
- Basic coat brushing;
- One walk per day (with a maximum of two walks daily, where the second walk is intended primarily for toileting purposes);
- One video update per day.
Dogs requiring care beyond the standard boarding package may incur additional charges. Such services include, but are not limited to:
- Administration of complex medications;
- Injections;
- Wound care and medical monitoring;
- Special handling requirements;
- Additional walks beyond the standard allocation;
- Extended grooming, deep brushing, de-matting, or other additional coat maintenance.
Additional care fees will be charged from $20 onwards, depending on the nature, complexity, duration, and frequency of the service required.
9. Weather & Outdoor Activity Policy
The safety, health, and wellbeing of all dogs in our care are our highest priority. We reserve the right to modify, shorten, postpone, or cancel outdoor walks and activities due to adverse weather conditions or environmental factors, including but not limited to heavy rain, thunderstorms, extreme heat, poor air quality, wet or contaminated walking surfaces, or any conditions deemed unsafe by our staff.
This policy is intended to minimise the risk of illness, injury, or exposure to environmental hazards, including waterborne diseases and other health concerns that may be present in outdoor areas during or after periods of wet weather.
Where outdoor walks are cancelled, dogs will continue to receive appropriate care, supervision, toilet breaks, and indoor enrichment activities where reasonably practicable. No refunds, discounts, or compensation will be provided for walks that are modified or cancelled due to weather, safety, or health considerations.
10. Indemnity
The Owner agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Pawcious, its owners, employees, and staff from and against all losses, damages, claims, demands, actions, proceedings, fines, costs, and expenses (including legal fees on a full indemnity basis) arising from:
- Any breach of these terms and conditions by the Owner
- Any act, omission, or behaviour of the pet while under Pawcious’ care
